NAB 2008 Day 2 Wrap Up

Tuesday here @ NAB 2008 was still pretty busy. Lots of faces we have not seen in a while and a few interesting things we found on the floor.

In the Lowel booth they have the new twist to their classic 60 second set-up Rifa: The eXchange System. The new bayonet mount lets you swap lampheads with a twist of the wrist. Each model comes with a removable lamphead that uses the exact same lamps Rifa has always used. But now, the Rifa eXchange System's quick exchange accessory lampheads expand your options.
All 4 models can now go down to 125W AC or be powered with a DC battery. Also as a new option you can now use our new high CRI daylight fluorescent lamps.

Another interesting thing we like is the Rololight .

The Rololight softbox systems are comprised of a series of interlocking panels which host 15" fluorescent tubes. The panels each have its own ballast so they can be used individually or daisy chained to create a wall of light, several feet tall. Because of the flexible nature of interlocking panels, the light can rolled up for easy storage, or used in a curved form. They have egg crates for greater light control.

So here's the cool part. Rololight is so convinced you will want to keep this as a part of your kit they have a "Try and Buy" Program. Basically, purchase the system, use it for 30 days and if you don't like it return it for a refund less the cost of the shipping to you.

On the LED front (of which there are dozens) there are a couple new things from City Theatrical for the Color Kinetics iW Blast 12TR. We saw prototypes of a mount for the back that's a baby pin receiver and they have a single power supply that will be AC/DC and adjusts the color temp from tungsten to daylight and a master dimmer. They are also making frosted lenses, snap-on barndoors, and egg crates for light control.

Also coming soon.. We've had our team scouring the floor for all the latest news.. Soon there will be a link posted for the official Barbizon NAB 2008 Show report..
