USITT 2007 - It's a Wrap.

I left the hotel Sunday at literally sunrise to head back. USITT '07 was a wrap. A great show.. Wonderful attendance, lots of great questions from students and their mentors alike. Barbizon handed out hundreds of our Electrician's Handbooks (with useful information like the optimal temperature for beer,) JR Clancy "Things You Should Know" cards (a laminated card that has basic stage knots and a lot of other very useful rigging information,) there were also Phillips Lamp life slide rules, GE lamp cross reference guides, and gel swatchbooks, lots of swatchbooks. This year's fun swag were some 400 foam airplanes we had made for the show and they were quite popular (although not as coveted as the SSSL velour bags). Someone informed us that some were used in the pool area at the Hyatt as water soaked dive bombers on unsuspecting sun bathers.

This year in our booth we also had the gang from Selador showing off their 1 and 3 watt LED fixtures.. Pretty sweet.. the convention hall's ceiling 30 feet up was painted dark brown and we had no problem getting light up there. Thematix also had a LightBox set up for people to play with..

Next year USITT '08 is in Houston. '09 is TBD and then the 2010 50th Anniversary Conference is slated for Kansas City.

If any one has any ideas for programs at the show proposals are due by 5/1/2007 and you can get the forms for them on the USITT Website.

Below are some memorable Pics of friends and events from the show. The rest are on our FLIKR site.
